I am so curious to hear what anyone thinks about the subject of life after death.

I am new here. I am not going to scan through endless pages of whats already been written (though I am sure that I would find tons of excellent useful stuff there).

I prefer to start from the present, the here and now.

here's what I think (I'm just a regular guy of average intelligence with no credentials):

I don't know if there's an afterlife or if we have a soul.
I really want to know. but try as I might, after years of reading, thinking, talking to people etc., I still don't know.

I give it a 50/50 chance that there is life after death. thats just the best that I can do. I know that I want there to be life after death more than anything. I will stop for now. I don't want to make this initial post too long.

all comments welcome. thanks,
Charlie
It's not 50/50 that there is life after death. It's pretty much zero. There is very very little if any chance that there is life after death. If there is any chance it is far far less than 1 percent to the extent that percentages are meaningful here. When our biology stops functioning, that's the end. This is virtually certain. I wish it weren't because I'd like to have an after-life. What we should think about and value is not an after-life, as there is virtually no chance there is one, but this life. This life is the life we have. This life is what is valuable. Trying to make the world a better place and make it ok for future life-forms is what's important.
