I agree. But as there are various levels of narcissism, there are also levels of wisdom (inherent and learned) tempering what we have been given.

Well, I don't know….
A modicum of narcism is necessary for one to project oneself into any significant job..
OR for that matter any situation where offering up one's point of view is required.
Or into any relationship with another human being that one considers at least as admirable as one believes oneself to be.
Without at least a soupçon of narcism, I wouldn't be posting what you probably think of as my narcissistic responses to your narcissistic responses.
Like that.
Who without the astounding self-confidence (read "totally unrealistic assessments of one's intellect, talents, confidence in leadership abilities") of the narcissist would even consider running for ANY public office, much less the Presidency?
Who would wish to lead an army?
Run a University?
Or, Jesus Christ….be a parent?
If we all stopped to consider whether we are actually qualified for an interchange, or just imagined it as a result of overblown ego, why… just think of it: human reproduction might have come to a speedy end as soon as humans realized what they were actually doing.
It's the rarity of people who know they don't really have the juice , that MIGHT be what keeps our species going.
"MIGHT."
To say "absolutely" would be narcissistic, so I won't use it.
