That presents a couple of problems.

First, buckling since absorption in that context means movement. The track needs to be incredibly rigid, so you'd need to float every inch of it apart from the tube. That... would be a monstrously complex to build and repair.

Second, you'd be hugely increasing material and labor costs.

That doesn't seem to be bothering the Chinese, they have had worse earthquakes than California.

They also have a tradition of using people as disposal commodities.
