That part of it is very isolated, yes. But even if anyone had been around, for most of the time they wouldn't have noticed anything because there was a bloody great dyke (make what you want of that) between them and the culprit.
And they did it, apparently, because they didn't know what it was (and there are fairies in my teacup) and they wanted to build some stables. You know - stables in the middle of nowhere.
And if they don't get everything in the book thrown at them, then I'm emigrating to ... errrmm ... a place where dykes are sacrosanct. Got any?
